About Our Council
Council 101, the oldest Council in Maine, was established in 1894, only 12 years after the incorporation of the Knights in Connecticut. A great celebration marked the organization of 101. Special arrangements were made for the visit of about 500 Knights. They arrived on the steamer "City of Portland" which sailed from Boston Harbor. After a Mass at the Cathedral of St. Dominic, initiation and installation exercises were held at Portland City Hall. Council 101 had thirty-four charter members. The original Charter, signed by those thirty-four Brothers, is currently hanging in the St. Patrick Parish Hall, for all to see.
Council 101 currently has as members:
| Bishops: | Most Reverand Peter L. Gerety |
| Most Reverand Richard J. Malone | |
| One Monsignor: | Right Reverend Vincent A. Tatarczuk |
| Three Priests: | Reverend Coleman P. O'Toole : Reverend James Lafontain,S.J. and Reverend John d'Anjou,S.J. |
We thank all these men for their service and inspiration.
